Natalie Cooksammy is a Member in the Subrogation and Recovery Department based in London. She specialises in all aspects of commercial insurance with particular emphasis on complex High Court litigation involving property damage disputes and subrogated recoveries. She has acted for a number of leading U.K., U.S. and European insurers, as well as Lloyd’s syndicates, in litigation and mediation proceedings.

Prior to qualifying as a solicitor in 1999, Natalie practised as a barrister for a number of years in both London and the North West doing a wide variety of areas of law. She has gained extensive advocacy and trial experience on most circuits and courts in the U.K., and holds dual qualification status as both a barrister (non-practising) and a solicitor. Natalie was called to the bar, Lincoln’s Inn in 1995, and qualified as a solicitor advocate in 2002. Accordingly, Natalie is able to handle cases from initial instructions all the way to trial.

Natalie is the co-founder and co-chair of the U.K. division of the National Association of Subrogation Professionals ("NASP"). She has conducted lectures and seminars about subrogation and recovery in England, Europe and across the U.S.

Natalie was also the first person outside the U.S. to gain a formal qualification in subrogation by becoming a Certified Subrogation Professional ("CSRP"). In November 2006, Natalie was awarded the Spirit of NASP Award in recognition for her work in the field of subrogation.

Natalie is a recognised expert in subrogation and recovery proceedings within the U.K. insurance market. She has written a number of internationally published articles about subrogation, spoken at many a insurances conferences, and appeared in a variety of trade publications.
