The landscape of the reinsurance industry is ever-changing. Major developments in the last year include the implementation of the NAIC's Reinsurance Modernization Proposal as published in its Framework Memorandum proposing revised collateral requirements on reinsurers; the independent collateral regulations proposed in New York and Florida; and the impact of the subprime mortgage crisis on the insurance and reinsurance market. As the business and regulatory environment in which reinsurers operate here and abroad continues to evolve, our expert faculty will discuss the latest developments in the U.S. and international markets, with emphasis on recent legislation and regulatory changes and recent case law, as well as the most effective strategies to address these developments.

Topice to be covered:

  • The potential impact of the NAIC and federal government proposals on non-US unauthorized and domestic reinsurers
  • How will the ever increasing liability from the subprime mortgage crisis affect the reinsurance industry
  • Legislative developments including proposals for Federal Regulation and Modernization of Insurance and Reinsurance
  • New and innovative reinsurance transactions and reinsurance contract terms
