New York, NY

Date & Time

Start Date: 05/17/2010

Cozen O’Connor Member Ken Fisher will moderate a discussion by a distinguished panel on the issue of Community Benefit Agreements. CBAs between developers, elected officials and community groups have grown in prominence with agreements on profile projects like Atlantic Yards in Brooklyn, Columbia University and Harlem Park in Manhattan, Yankee Stadium and Gateway Center in the Bronx, and the Mets’ Stadium in Queens. As private agreements, however, these deals pose a number of procedural, ethical, and enforcement issues.

Joining Ken Fisher on the panel will be Vicki Been, Boxer Family Professor of Law and Director, Furman Center for Real Estate and Urban Policy, New York University School of Law; Julian Gross, Director of the Community Benefits Law Center, a project of the Partnership for Working Families; Wayne G. Hawley, Deputy Executive Director and General Counsel, NYC Conflicts of Interest Board; Al Rodriguez, General Counsel, Bronx Borough President; and Ethel Sheffer, past President, American Planning Association, NY Metro Chapter.
