Hayes Hunt, a member of Cozen O'Connor's Commercial Litigation Department, will be participating in this NITA Skills Program which will teach participants to use the right techniques to gather information, secure admissions and confirm theories that set the foundation for successful motions, persuasive settlement tactics, and more effective and efficient trial presentations.

NITA's proven methods will let you explore and master tried and true best practices in both taking and defending depositions. Using cutting edge techniques developed by NITA you will practice and perfect your skills in:

Taking depositions:

  • Eliciting information using the "Funnel Technique" that exhausts a witness' subject knowledge
  • Identifying other potential sources of information
  • Closing off avenues of escape
  • Working with documents to gather information, refresh memory, and impeach
  • Dealing with objections and coping with obstreperous counsel

Defending depositions:

  • Working with witnesses to prepare them both substantively and emotionally for their deposition
  • Knowing when and how to make proper objections and instruct not to answer

A portion of the program is also devoted to ethical considerations in deposition settings and witness preparation.
