Cozen O’Connor Attorneys Designated 2008 Washington, D.C., Super Lawyers by Law & Politics

Cozen O’Connor members Barry Boss and Bernard S. Grimm have been named 2008 Washington, D.C., Super Lawyers by Law & Politics. Washington, D.C., Super Lawyers recognizes the top 5% of attorneys in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, as chosen by their peers and through independent research. The list recognizes attorneys in more than 60 practice areas, and each year, more than 30,000 attorneys in the metro area participate in the survey and selection process.

Boss is the managing partner of Cozen O’Connor’s Washington, D.C., office. He concentrates his practice in complex criminal matters, focusing on white-collar crime and corporate compliance. Boss is co-author of Federal Criminal Practice, an 800-page treatise for criminal defense attorneys, and regularly serves as a faculty member or featured speaker at continuing legal education programs and seminars throughout the country.

Former co-chair of the U.S. Sentencing Commission’s Practitioners’ Advisory Group, Boss currently serves as co-chair of the American Bar Association criminal justice section sentencing committee and is a fellow of American Board of Criminal Lawyers. He has been named a “Top Lawyer” for criminal defense by Washingtonian magazine and is also a past recipient of the R. Kenneth Mundy Lawyer of the Year Award from the District of Columbia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.

A resident of Chevy Chase, Md., Boss earned his undergraduate degree from Bates College (B.A., 1982) and his law degree from The George Washington University Law School (J.D., with high honors, 1985), where he was a member of Order of the Coif. Boss is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia and Maryland.

A member in the Washington, D.C., office, Grimm focuses his practice on white collar and complex criminal defense matters. He has extensive experience in federal and state courts, representing clients in civil and criminal matters and has also handled matters involving money laundering, bribery and visa fraud, as well as personal and premises liability.

A legal commentator for Fox News, Court TV and CNN, Grimm was recognized as one of the Top 100 Lawyers (#21) in the Washington, D.C., Metropolitan Area by Washingtonian magazine in 2002. He also received the R. Kenneth Mundy Award, presented by the District of Columbia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers to the top trial lawyer in the jurisdiction.

Admitted to practice in Maryland and the District of Columbia, Grimm is a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and served as president of the Public Defender Service Alumni Association from 1994-2002. In addition, he participated in the Harvard Law School Trial Advocacy Workshop and has been a guest lecturer for Widener University Law School and the District of Columbia Criminal Practice Institute. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of Law Students in Court in Washington.

Grimm is a graduate of King’s College (B.A., summa cum laude, 1979) and Antioch School of Law (J.D., 1983).
