Cozen O’Connor Continues Expansion of Antitrust Practice in Washington, D.C.

Sunday, May 2, 2010

Continuing the aggressive growth of its antitrust practice group that began earlier this year with the additions of Melissa Maxman and Frank Newell, Cozen O’Connor announced that Jonathan M. Grossman has joined the firm as a member of the Washington, D.C., office. Grossman comes from Hogan & Hartson where he advised clients on a wide range of antitrust matters, including merger clearance, civil and criminal investigations, and on business, consumer protection and legislative issues.

“We are delighted that Jonathan will be joining us,” said Jeffrey G. Weil, chair of the commercial litigation department at Cozen O’Connor. “Jonathan has established himself as one of the best young antitrust lawyers in Washington, D.C. He will add to Cozen's strong antitrust group, and, in particular, increase our depth in Washington, D.C., and our strength on the transactional and regulatory side of the antitrust practice. Jonathan has had excellent experience since graduating from Harvard Law School, and his choosing to join Cozen O'Connor is further demonstration of the firm's sophistication, commitment to excellence, and appeal to the highest level of practicing lawyer.”

Representing clients before the Federal Trade Commission, the Antitrust Division of the U.S. Department of Justice, and numerous state Attorneys General, Grossman works with clients from a variety of industries, and has extensive experience in the areas of health care, energy, high tech and commercial insurance.

“Jonathan’s experience, especially in consumer protection and transactional antitrust work, and in particular, in the health care and energy industries, is a great complement to our existing antitrust and regulatory capabilities,” said Maxman, who serves as co-chair of the antitrust practice group with Newell. “We’re thrilled to welcome him to our growing team.” Grossman is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia and New York.

Grossman earned his J.D., from Harvard Law School (2000), an M.P.P., from Harvard University, John F. Kennedy School of Government (2000), and a B.A., with high distinction, from the University of Michigan (1992). Between undergraduate and law school, Grossman worked in Democratic politics, including service as a Delegate to the 1992 Democratic National Convention and as a fundraiser for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee.
