Wednesday, March 5, 2014

Jennifer Brandt, a member in the firm’s Family Law Department, was a guest on Fox 29 News today to discuss yesterday’s guilty plea in the Real Housewives of New Jersey case. Teresa and Joe Giudice plead guilty in federal court to several mortgage and bankruptcy fraud charges. The couple will be sentenced at a later date, but per the plea agreement Teresa Giudice would spend less than two years in prison, while her husband Joe Giudice would spend a minimum of three years in prison. The couple was charged in a 39-count indictment that accused them of conspiring to fraudulently obtain millions of dollars in mortgages and other loans and of hiding assets and income during their past bankruptcy proceedings.

Jennifer also discussed the recent case of the New Jersey teen who is suing her parents for financial support including high school tuition payments. Rachel Canning, 18, claims her parents threw her out of their home two days before her 18th birthday, while her parents claim she moved voluntarily.
