    Charles H. Wilson

Charles H. Wilson is a member of the firm’s Labor & Employment Group in the firm's Houston office. He joined Cozen O’Connor in 2011.

Charles, who is board certified in Labor and Employment Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, represents employers in complex litigation and trials arising from claims of wage and hour violations, employee raiding, race discrimination, racial profiling, retaliation (including whistle blowing), harassment, and disability discrimination.

Charles has represented employers in hundreds of administrative actions before the EEOC and state agencies. And, as a former in-house lawyer for a large hospitality company, Charles is very effective in providing day-to-day employment law guidance to employers regarding reductions-in-force, harassment investigations, terminations and discipline, promotions, separation of high level employees, FMLA and ADA compliance, and traditional labor matters.

Charles earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Connecticut in 1993 and his law degree from Texas Southern University-Thurgood Marshall School of Law in 1996.

Houston, Texas Federal court suit in which Plaintiff, a highly paid engineer, alleged he was laid off because of his national origin and in retaliation for complaining about discriminatory working conditions. In response to Defendant's motion for summary judgment, plaintiff's counsel moved to withdraw from the case. The Court ordered counsel to withdraw from the case only after he filed a response. The district court granted summary judgment in Defendants' favor.

Houston, Texas Federal collective action, in which Plaintiff, on behalf of himself and other similarly situated sued our client, Pioneer Contract Services, Inc., for unpaid overtime in violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act. One of the central issues in the case was whether certain travel time was compensable. We successfully persuaded opposing counsel, with case law and pay documents, that such time was not compensable and settled for a nominal confidential amount before Plaintiff was able to move for class certification.

Harlingen, Texas Federal Court suit in which plaintiffs alleged they were denied overtime in violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act. Our client was a co-defendant that hired the actual employer of the plaintiffs; our client was sued under a joint-employment theory. Defendant filed a Rule 12(b)(6) motion to dismiss, after which the plaintiff requested a mediation. The parties settled the case for a very nominal confidential amount.
