Cozen O'Connor's Energy Environmental & Public Utility Group will convene a symposium of national experts in Philadelphia to discuss emerging issues surrounding catastrophic releases of hazardous materials including:

  • Increased enforcement of accidental release prevention and risk management planning under Clean Air Act § 112(r)
  • Lessons learned from the West Virginia chemical spill that contaminated the water supply
  • Emerging vulnerabilities of hazardous material storage resulting from climate change
  • Managing risk through planning, modeling and mitigation  

The program will be shared via live stream for guests outside the Philadelphia region. Guest speakers include: Catherine Smith, Senior Enforcement Counsel U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Region 1; William Arguto, Chief, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Drinking Water Program, Region 3, Jeffrey McIntyre, President, West Virginia-American Water Company; Nicholas Santella, Ph.D. and Tripp Fischer, PG, Brownfield Science & Technology; Dr. Kathleen Sullivan Sealey, Coastal Ecology Laboratory, University of Miami. The symposium will conclude with a panel discussion, Q&A, and lunch/networking.
