Cozen O'Connor's Energy Environmental & Public Utility Group will convene a symposium of national experts in Philadelphia to discuss emerging issues surrounding catastrophic releases of hazardous materials including:
Increased enforcement of accidental release prevention and risk management planning under Clean Air Act § 112(r)
Lessons learned from the West Virginia chemical spill that contaminated the water supply
Emerging vulnerabilities of hazardous material storage resulting from climate change
Managing risk through planning, modeling and mitigation
The program will be shared via live stream for guests outside the Philadelphia region. Guest speakers include: Catherine Smith, Senior Enforcement Counsel U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Region 1; William Arguto, Chief, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Drinking Water Program, Region 3, Jeffrey McIntyre, President, West Virginia-American Water Company; Nicholas Santella, Ph.D. and Tripp Fischer, PG, Brownfield Science & Technology; Dr. Kathleen Sullivan Sealey, Coastal Ecology Laboratory, University of Miami. The symposium will conclude with a panel discussion, Q&A, and lunch/networking.
