Craig Bennion and Alissa Christopher, of the Global Insurance Department, will present at the 2017 Claims Educational Conference on Bad Faith Liability: Prevention and Control.

Craig and Alissa's presentation will discuss insurance bad faith, including liability for bad faith arising from nearly all tasks that are part of a claim representative’s job, from initial loss investigation to settlement and payment of a claim. The session will review recent judicial decisions pertaining to insurance bad faith and conclude with pointers on how to develop “good faith” habits in claims handling to reduce the risk of bad faith claims.

The Claims Education Conference presented by American Educational Institute (AEI), the Society of Claim Law Associates (SCLA), and International Insurance Institute (III), provides claims relevant education and opportunities to network with other claims professionals who share similar concerns and challenges. The conference also includes a vendor exhibition hall that showcases products and services relevant to the property and casualty insurance industry. The conference education program is a complementary blend of both legal and general claims training. Claims law topics are selected to help claims professionals increase their claims law knowledge and stay current on the latest industry developments. Claims law topics are presented by leading industry experts and nationally recognized insurance defense attorneys. In addition, Carl Van and International Insurance Institute's training staff provides claims skills training designed to help claims professionals sharpen their management and communication skills. This integrative approach is designed to provide both legal knowledge and practical skills, resulting in increased professionalism and enhanced productivity.
