Jeffrey Lawrence, Chair of the Transportation & Trade Practice Group will be presenting at the European Maritime Law Organisation (EMLO) 2017 Spring Seminar

The seminar comes at a momentous time for Europe as a whole and for European shipping and trade as it will be right after the expected triggering of Article 50 by the UK Government and in the build-up to important elections in France, both of which herald major legal and political changes ahead. How will EU law and policy react to such changes?  The seminar will be divided into three main topics, mergers and antitrust law, shipping disputes and antitrust damages actions and general maritime policy and legislation  Leading industry professional speakers and panelists who, as well as reviewing the main current issues and trends, will be taking a crystal ball to consider what the future holds after Brexit. We hope many members of the IAML will be able to come as well as members of the wider Italian maritime industry with an interest in the impact of EU law and policy on shipping and ports.

Jeffrey will participate on two panels: "COMPETITION LAW: How should merger and anti-trust policy and law be applied in the face of increasing concentration now and post-Brexit?" and What are the broader legal and policy implications post-BREXIT for international shipping and ports?"
