PLAC is an association of more than 100 leading product manufacturers and over 350 of the foremost product liability defense counsel in the United States and abroad. PLAC was formed in 1983 to analyze, understand, and shape the common law of product liability. A respected and influential organization, PLAC membership is both an honor and recognition of an attorney’s expertise in product liability law.
Vice-chair of Cozen O’Connor’s general litigation department, McDonough focuses his practice, both nationally and internationally, on complex product liability litigation, general litigation and complex insurance defense matters including directors' and officers' liability, errors and omissions litigation, and mass tort litigation. He specializes in catastrophic injury cases arising from construction accidents, medical malpractice, and food liability, as well as from toxic exposures including asbestos, benzene and lead. He has extensive experience handling multidistrict litigation and class action lawsuits.
McDonough is a frequent author and lecturer for many organizations, including the Defense Research Institute (DRI), the Torts and Insurance Practice Section of the New York State Bar Association, the Defense Association of New York (DANY), and the American Conference Institute. He is a current member of the board of directors of the DRI, and a former president and chairman of the board of directors of DANY and member of Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel. John is frequently asked to provide quotes for publications including Business Week and the New York Law Journal.
