Governor Tom Corbett (R-Pa.) named Charles Kopp, of counsel to Cozen O’Connor’s Business Law Department, as chairman of the Philadelphia Regional Port Authority (PRPA). In a statement announcing the appointment, Governor Corbett said, “Charlie Kopp has the institutional knowledge and expertise needed to guide the PRPA’s important work.” Kopp, who practices with the firm’s Tax Group, is experienced in all aspects of federal, state, and local taxation and has an in-depth knowledge of corporate acquisitions and mergers. He has also written on tax issues for a number of publications including, Tax Lawyer, the Philadelphia Lawyer, and the Journal of Taxation. In the same statement, Kopp said, “I am honored by Governor Corbett’s appointment and share his goal to make the Philadelphia port the best in the nation as an integral part of his overall commitment to spur economic activity and create jobs.” This is not the first appointment for Kopp. In 1986 he was appointed to serve on the Delaware River Port Authority by then Governor Rick Thornburgh.
