Jim Schultz, chair of Cozen O'Connor's Government Law & Regulatory Affairs practice, discusses the tense political climate in Harrisburg and who Gov. Tom Wolf may nominate for the PA Supreme Court in The Legal Intelligencer. Spurred on by long-simmering budget discussions between Wolf, a Democrat, and the Republican-controlled Senate, political gridlock makes a moderate Republican the most likely choice to fill the seat of Eakin, a Republican who retired from the court March 15 with an ethics trial looming. Court watchers also said a successful nominee will likely need to pledge not to run for the open seat in next year's election."At a time when there's heightened scrutiny with respect to our courts and our court system, it's very, very important that the replacement, if there is one, be someone who is obviously of high ethical character, an experienced lawyer or jurist and someone who's well respected across party lines and within the Pennsylvania bar," said Jim.
