Lori Kalani, a member of Cozen O'Connor's State Attorneys General practice, discusses last year's investigation into the dietary supplement industry and their steps moving forward in Natural Products Insider. Last year, New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman's investigation into herbal supplements ignited criticisms that the industry is poorly regulated, fraudulent and in dire need of reform. Following this, the American Herbal Products Association (AHPA) and the United Natural Products Alliance (UNPA) hired former Attorney General of Maryland Doug Ganser to build relationships and educate state attorneys general about this industry. Lori feels that this is a step in the right direction for the industry. “AGs and their staff appreciate the industry engaging in a productive discussion and helping educate them," says Lori "especially when it comes to technical subjects such as the nutritional industry."
