Cozen O’Connor Welcomes Litigator Vincent Candiello to its Harrisburg, Pa. Office

Tuesday, August 8, 2017

Harrisburg, Pa.  August 8, 2017 – Cozen O’Connor welcomes Vincent Candiello, a seasoned trial lawyer and labor relations negotiator, to its Harrisburg office as a member of the firm’s fast-growing Labor & Employment department. Candiello comes to Cozen O’Connor from Post & Schell, P.C., where he was a principal in the firm’s Labor and Employment and Employee Relations practice groups.

Candiello has more than 25 successful jury trials to his credit and will represent a range of Cozen O’Connor clients in labor and employment-related lawsuits, administrative claims, arbitration, and unfair labor practice charges before the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB). Candiello will also continue to represent clients facing state and federal safety citations — he has successfully defended numerous Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) citations, including those involving fatalities.

“I welcomed the opportunity to join Cozen O’Connor and help grow its Labor & Employment group and assist its OSHA practice specifically,” said Candiello. “It is obvious the firm’s management is committed to growing both the Labor & Employment team and the firm’s footprint in Pennsylvania, making this a very exciting place to work.”

Experienced in all phases of union certification and decertification elections, Candiello will represent clients before the NLRB in matters involving unit structure and bargaining unit inclusion/exclusion issues. Certified as a mediator by the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, Candiello also brings more than 20 years’ experience helping litigants in multiple industries obtain fair, equitable settlements.

“Adding an experienced Labor and Employment litigator of Vincent’s caliber is a major win, both for the firm and its clients,” said Thomas S. Giotto, co-chair of Cozen O’Connor’s Labor & Employment department. “Vincent’s successful track record as a chief collective bargaining negotiator will serve our central Pennsylvania clients well, particularly those in the manufacturing, construction, and health care industries.”

“Central Pennsylvania is a hotbed of activity, particularly in the energy, manufacturing, and construction sectors,” said David P. Zambito, co-chair of the firm’s Energy, Environmental, and Public Utilities Practice Group. “Vincent’s experience representing clients before numerous state and federal regulatory bodies, including OSHA and the NLRB, makes him a major addition to our Harrisburg office.”

Candiello earned his J.D. at University of Detroit Mercy School of Law, magna cum laude, and a B.A in political science from Pennsylvania State University. Prior to and while attending law school at night, he was a field examiner and hearing officer for the NLRB. He has been the chair of the Pennsylvania Bar Association’s Labor and Employment Law Section on two separate occasions and currently serves on its governing council.

Candiello’s hiring also furthers Cozen O’Connor’s commitment to expanding its footprint throughout Pennsylvania. In May the firm launched a new, full-service office in Pittsburgh with three former leaders of Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney PC, including Giotto, corporate attorney Jeremy Garvey, and complex commercial and health care litigator Gene Giotto. The firm now has a statewide presence in Pennsylvania with three major offices in Philadelphia, Harrisburg, and Pittsburgh.

It also contributes to the ongoing expansion of the firm’s Labor & Employment Department, which has attorneys in every region of the country. In May Cozen O’Connor welcomed four labor and employment lawyers from Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney PC to its Pittsburgh office and another 11 Buchanan attorneys to its Philadelphia office. In January, its Miami office added three Fox Rothschild lawyers with extensive employment-based immigration experience — Scott E. Bettridge, Michael W. Stevenson, and Daniela Berisiartu Barshel. That team is now advising both U.S. and foreign companies on corporate finance and infrastructure development, while maximizing opportunities under the EB-5 Immigrant Investor Program.
