The head of the Department of Justice’s antitrust division made waves this week when he announced several changes to the merger review process, but members of the antitrust bar are not sure whether those changes will lead to deals closing more quickly. David noted previous talks about making second requests “less onerous”, and praised Delrahim for taking this step.“I do think it’s doable and I’m optimistic that that is where the ship is heading,” David said. Ensuring that third parties comply “efficiently and effectively” with CIDs despite their being burdensome is feasible, he said.
