Minneapolis, January 8, 2018 — Cozen O’Connor, one of the country’s most successful commercial litigation firms, is pleased to welcome litigator Mark A. Jacobson to its Commercial Litigation Department’s business litigation group. Jacobson comes to the firm from Minneapolis-based Lindquist & Vennum, LLP, where—as chair of that firm’s Litigation Department—he led one of Minnesota’s top-ranked antitrust practice groups.
A seasoned trial lawyer, Jacobson joins Cozen O’Connor as a member and will reside at the firm’s Minneapolis office. In his new role, he will serve as the firm’s lead litigation attorney in Minneapolis, focusing on complex commercial, antitrust, intellectual property and class action disputes while also working to grow the firm’s litigation practice in Minnesota and beyond.
During his tenure at Lindquist & Vennum, Jacobson represented local companies such as Infinite Campus and Medica as well as national companies such as Chase Manhattan Bank and Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines. Often retained as local counsel to guide business litigants through Minnesota courts, Jacobson also brings to Cozen O’Connor substantial experience in mediation, arbitration, and other alternative dispute resolution techniques.
“Cozen O’Connor is a trial firm—not simply a litigation firm. That commitment to actual trial work benefits our business clients, both in the form of decisive verdicts and advantageous settlements,” says Thomas G. Wallrich, managing partner of the firm’s Minneapolis office. “Mark’s background includes substantial trial experience—his antitrust litigation background alone adds to and complements our existing capabilities. A track record of that caliber is difficult to replicate and I’m quite pleased to welcome him to the firm.”
Jacobson is highly regarded within Minnesota’s legal community as well. He is rated by Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business, as one of five Band 1 Antitrust lawyers for Minnesota 2015-17; and U.S. News, Best Lawyers in America, 2011-17, where he is rated as a Best Lawyer in litigation-antitrust and litigation-intellectual property.
“Cozen O’Connor counts among its clients some of the largest global brands in the country, if not the world,” Jacobson says. “Joining a firm of this stature allows me to bring to my clients in the Upper Midwest the legal resources and geographic reach of a large, national firm, while still giving them the local attention and flexibility they expect from me and my team. Plus, the lawyers here genuinely enjoy working together, which creates an effective, efficient practice and results in positive outcomes for our clients. I am thrilled to be here.”
Jacobson earned his J.D. at the University of Minnesota Law School, where he graduated magna cum laude and was a member of the Order of the Coif. He earned his B.A. at the University of North Carolina, where he was a Morehead Scholar and an IBM National Merit scholar.
With 350 highly respected litigators, including numerous fellows of the American College of Trial Lawyers, Cozen O’Connor is a go-to firm for sophisticated clients with complicated and consequential business litigation. Based out of 27 U.S. offices, its lawyers routinely appear in courtrooms across the nation. They know the judges and procedural norms of nearly every state and win cases in the most challenging jurisdictions.
