States Press Ahead With Privacy Laws Even as Congress Stalls

Lori Kalani, co-chair of Cozen O’Connor’s State Attorneys General practice, was quoted in a Bloomberg Law article discussing the cascading effect likely to result from the enactment of California’s new privacy laws and other actions by state attorneys general to hold companies accountable for collection and use of consumer data. Despite Congress being at a standstill with development of a broad federal privacy law, states that haven’t yet acted will pick up bills or pieces of legislation, making it much easier for state legislators to enact laws, according to Kalani.
