SEATTLE — Tuesday, October 29 — Terri Sutton, of Cozen O’Connor’s Global Insurance Department, has been promoted from president-elect to chapter president of the Pacific Northwest (PNW) Chapter Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) Society. The CPCU is a national nonprofit society of insurance professionals with a primary purpose of providing specialized educational programs for the insurance industry.
Sutton has a wide range of experience advising insurers on insurance coverage issues related to claims under general liability, professional liability, errors and omissions, and excess/umbrella policies. She advises clients and litigates complex coverage issues and bad faith, including those arising under professional liability, general liability, and directors and officers liability policies. Terri earned her Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation in 2005.
Aside from being chapter president of the PNW CPCU Society, Sutton is vice-chair of the steering committee for the CPCU Society's Coverage, Litigators, Educators, and Witnesses (CLEW) interest group, and a member of PLUS (Professional Liability Underwriting Society). Sutton earned her law degree, summa cum laude from Seattle University School of Law, and her Bachelor of Arts in economics and management from Beloit College.
The PNW chapter goals are to promote awareness and value of the CPCU designation, increase membership participation and retention, provide educational opportunities to meet member needs, foster an environment that attracts new members and encourages their participation, and provide insurance-related education and information for non-members.
