PHILADELPHIA, June 10, 2020 — Bernard Lee, member of Cozen O’Connor’s Real Estate Practice, has been recognized by The Legal Intelligencer as a 2020 Professional Excellence Award winner in the Lifetime Achievement category. The award is given to attorneys from all corners of the legal profession and the state, including jurists, office holders, and anyone else who has left an imprint on the legal history of the state during their career.
Bernard considers his most significant achievement to be his mentorship over the years of aspiring attorneys, especially attorneys of color, as well as female, Hispanic, LGBTQ, and other diverse categories and to encourage each of his mentees to pass it along.
Bernard’s practice areas include real estate development and financing, mixed-use and mixed-finance projects, construction and architect agreements, and hotel management, acquisition, and development. His clients include individual developers and joint venture partners, small and major corporations, and governmental and quasi-governmental entities. Bernard has served as a commissioner on the Philadelphia City Planning Commission. He is a past member of the Executive Board of the Real Property Section of the Philadelphia Bar Association, and former president of the Barristers’ Association. Bernard’s recent pro bono work includes the representation of a small community church in the acquisition and financing of a building and serving as a mediator in the tenant-landlord Philadelphia Bar Association program.
The Legal Intelligencer’s Professional Excellence Awards recognize attorney achievements across the Pennsylvania legal community in numerous categories, including Distinguished Leaders, In-House Impact, Lawyers on the Fast Track, Best Law Firm Mentors, Power Players, Legal Innovators, Unsung Heroes, and Most Effective Deal Makers.
