Mike McTigue, Meredith Slawe, and Marie Bussey-Garza in the Class Actions Practice Group; Anna Wermuth in the Labor & Employment Practice Group; and Michael De Leeuw, Stephen Miller, and Tamar Wise in the Appellate & Supreme Court Practice Group collaborated on an amicus brief that was filed in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit on Monday, April 5. Writing for the Retail Litigation Center and the Restaurant Law Center in support of White Castle, the team weighed in on a key issue related to the accrual of statutory damages under the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA). BIPA class actions have posed significant aggregate exposure for businesses across industries in the consumer and employment contexts.
