WASHINGTON, D.C., February 26, 2021 — Alexandra Busch, an attorney in the firm’s Commercial Litigation Department, has been elected to serve as the vice president of the Washington Chapter of the Coalition of Women’s Initiatives in Law. The coalition is a nonprofit membership association that brings together law firms, government entities, and companies of all sizes. The coalition was founded in Chicago in 2008 by a group of women lawyers intent on joining forces with others to benefit the collective whole. Currently, more than 120 law firms and companies are members of the coalition, stretching the reach of the coalition to thousands of women attorneys. The coalition provides dozens of programs each year, with the goal of fostering career advancement and professional development, promoting dialogue, and providing a support-network among members to help address the many issues facing women lawyers and women's initiatives today. Alex will also continue in her role co-chairing the Credentialing Committee.
Alex counsels and represents owners, general contractors, and subcontractors in all phases of construction and dispute resolution. Alex has represented clients on a range of construction projects, including power plants, liquefied natural gas facilities, commercial buildings, and luxury multifamily buildings. Before and during project performance, Alex provides her clients practical advice and counsels them to identify, mitigate, and avoid risks while protecting their interests. Alex guides her clients through project close-out and, when appropriate, she analyzes potential claims and defenses to equip her clients to make smart business decisions and generate creative solutions.
