This annual guide identifies the leading practitioners in six areas of focus: aviation contentious; aviation finance; aviation regulatory; shipping; space and satellites; and unmanned aircraft systems. David and Jonathon were selected to the aviation regulatory and unmanned aircraft systems chapters, while Jeff was selected to the shipping chapter.
A recognized leader in the aviation bar, David serves as chair of Cozen O’Connor’s Transportation & Trade Group and co-chair of the firm’s preeminent Aviation Industry Team. He represents major U.S. and foreign airlines (passenger and cargo); aviation trade associations; aircraft, engine, and equipment manufacturers; aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) businesses; air travel distribution companies; and air/ground express delivery and logistics companies. He also advises non-aviation businesses, including banks, private equity funds, other aviation industry investors, and corporate owners/users of aircraft.
Jeff focuses his practice on U.S. and international corporate, commercial, financing and joint venture activity, transportation regulation, and antitrust/competition regulation. Jeff represents U.S. and foreign companies and trade associations engaged in the maritime, intermodal transportation, and offshore drilling and wind energy industries. He regularly represents clients before federal agencies in Washington, D.C., as well as before foreign governments and international organizations. Considered a leader in the industry, Jeff has spoken on antitrust, transportation regulation, and transport liability issues before professional and industry associations in the United States and abroad. Until last year, Jeff led the Transportation and Trade Practice Group at Cozen O’Connor for 12 years. Prior to joining Cozen O’Connor, Jeff was a founding and senior partner at Sher & Blackwell LLP in Washington, D.C.
Jonathon counsels clients on a wide range of aviation regulatory and commercial matters. As part of his practice, he represents U.S. and non-U.S. airlines, other aircraft operators and trade associations before federal aviation regulatory agencies, including the U.S. Department of Transportation, the Federal Aviation Administration, the Transportation Security Administration, and U.S. Customs and Border Protection. Jonathon also acts for respondents in governmental investigations and enforcement and civil penalty proceedings involving alleged violations of various federal aviation-related statutes and regulations. He also co-chairs the firm’s Aviation Industry Team.
