Cozen O’Connor administrative managing partner Vincent R. McGuinness, Jr. has been elected President of the Philadelphia Squash Racquets Association (PSRA) for 2008-2009. Other board members elected include: Ken Jaffe, Vice President; Amy Milanek, Vice President; William Strong, Treasurer; and Geri Mendez Heldring, Secretary. The PSRA works to promote, develop and increase participation in squash throughout the United States through tournaments for all skill levels, clinics, and programs for the underprivileged. McGuinness is also President of the board of SquashSmarts, a non-profit affiliate of the PSRA that works with inner-city children.
McGuinness is the Administrative Managing Partner of the firm and a member in the Subrogation & Recovery Department. He focuses his legal practice on the prosecution of property damages claims, and has tried more than 30 subrogation cases to verdict throughout various state and federal courts in the United States. He also coordinates the defense of several hundred asbestos claims asserted against various manufacturers and suppliers of asbestos-containing products.
McGuinness developed the Subrogation and Recovery Department’s many educational seminars and workshops, including the comprehensive 20-month “Life of Subrogation Case”® program which traces the life of a subrogation claim from the moment the loss occurs through trial. He is a frequent lecturer and author in the property insurance subrogation industry, including addressing members of the Loss Executives Association, Pennsylvania Bar Association’s Insurance Committee, for which he served as the editor-in-chief of the inaugural Pennsylvania Insurance Journal, and the Insurance Society of Pennsylvania, for which he received its Distinguished Advocate Award for his lecturing and written contributions.
McGuinness is a graduate of Drew University (B.A., 1978) and Villanova University (J.D., 1981), where he was a member of the Villanova Law Review. He is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York, and before the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, the District of New Jersey, and the Southern District of New York; the New York Court of Appeals; and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. McGuinness has been named a Pennsylvania "Super Lawyer" by Law & Politics.
