Julia Molander and Alissa Christopher, of Cozen O'Connor's Global Insurance department, will present a webinar titled, "Review of Significant Bad Faith Cases in 2017." In 2017, courts across the country addressed the conduct required and damages available in bad faith cases. A prominent and repeated issue is whether bad faith exists in the context of settlement negotiations. The webinar will focus on significant "bad faith" decisions from courts across the country in 2017. The presenters will discuss trends and lessons to learn from select opinions rendered in first and third-party disputes involving claims that insurers breached the duty of good faith and fair dealing.

The presenters will cover:

  • What conduct demonstrates bad faith?
  • No bad faith in the absence of a breach of contract.
  • Bad faith in the absence of coverage.
  • Bad faith in the context of settlement.
