10th Annual Conference of the Atlanta International Arbitration Society

Date & Time

Start Date: 09/12/2021
End Date: 09/14/2021

Kurt Lindquist will be participating in the 10th Annual Conference of the Atlanta international Arbitration Society and will be the co-chair of the Global Arbitration Review – GAR Live! which takes place on September 13.

Additionally, Kurt will be moderating the panel, "IP and Arbitration."

Similar to banks, large IP owners have been slower than some to adopt international arbitration. Lately though, that appears to be changing. So, how can international arbitration be of help when in the intellectual property sphere? How can the international arbitration world meet the industry’s concerns about its usefulness, and what are the peculiarities of the IP disputes that may require creative thinking? And where will the arbitrators be found? Topics the panelists are expected to address include:

  • Reasons IP firms have avoided arbitration, and how many of those are insurmountable
  • IP owners who have had embraced international arbitration and why. Are there any themes? Is there a U.S./rest of the world divide?
  • The most common types of IP-related arbitrations
  • Particular issues in life sciences and molecule development
  • Compulsory licensing disputes
  • Quantifying damages in patent infringement cases in pharma
  • COVID-19 related IP and life sciences disputes
