Joseph Dever, a member of Cozen O’Connor’s Commercial Litigation Department, will be speaking at the American Conference Institute’s 3rd National Forum on Securities Litigation & Enforcement in Washington, D.C. Joe will be participating in a panel discussion titled “Admit Guilt or Go to Trial, the Future of Settlements That Neither Admit Nor Deny the Government’s Allegations, and Assessing What an Admission Will Mean for Private Litigants in Civil Lawsuits (Including Class Actions).” The panel, which also includes Brad Karp of Paul Weiss, Mark Lanpher of Sherman & Sterling, and several other prominent securities lawyers, will address the pros and cons of the SEC’s new enforcement policy requiring some parties to admit wrongdoing when settling SEC charges.
