Friday, January 4, 2008

Cozen O’Connor member Aaron Krauss has been named chairman of the board of directors of Philabundance, the Delaware Valley’s largest food rescue organization. Krauss has served on the board for six years, and as treasurer for the last four years. Founded in 1984, Philabundance works to end hunger and malnutrition in the Delaware Valley by acquiring food and distributing it through organizations serving people in need. The organization also provides a full range of services for area residents at risk of malnutrition and hunger.

Krauss, a commercial litigator, concentrates his practice in business, labor and employment, and intellectual property litigation. He is a member of the Federal Courts Committee of the Philadelphia Bar Association, and has served as an articles editor of the Tort & Insurance Law Journal, as an associate editor of the Handbook of Federal Judicial Practices and Procedures for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, and as vice chair of the Business Torts Committee, part of the American Bar Association’s Tort and Insurance Practice Section. Krauss has been named one of 40 Business Leaders Under 40 by the Philadelphia Business Journal, a “Lawyer on the Fast Track” in Pennsylvania by American Lawyer Media, and a Pennsylvania “Super Lawyer” by Law & Politics.

In addition to his work with Philabundance, Krauss is a leader in the United Way’s Campaign for Working Families. He also recruits and schedules Cozen O’Connor volunteers to prepare taxes for underprivileged city residents at no charge, so that more of Philadelphia’s working poor receive the Earned Income Tax Credit.

A resident of Meadowbrook, Pa., Krauss earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Michigan (B.A., magna cum laude, 1988) and his law degree at the University of Pennsylvania (J.D., magna cum laude, 1991). Upon graduating from law school, he served as a law clerk to the Honorable Edward N. Cahn, United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. He is admitted to practice in New Jersey and Pennsylvania and before the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, the Supreme Court of New Jersey, the United States Courts of Appeal for the Third and Eleventh Circuits, and the United States District Courts for the District of New Jersey, the Eastern District of Michigan, and the Eastern and Middle Districts of Pennsylvania.
