Cozen O’Connor announced that 30 attorneys from Wolf Block's private client services, real estate, tax, and litigation groups will join the firm, primarily in the Philadelphia office. Eleven of the attorneys are from the private client services group, which represents the personal, business, estate, and foundation interests of some of the region's wealthiest and most successful individuals. Members of this group include its chair, Rob Friedman, and partners Matthew Kamens, Lester Lipschutz, Edward Glickman, David Glyn, Steve Winters, and Len Cooper, among others.
Fifteen of the attorneys are from Wolf Block's Real Estate Department, and are among the premier real estate attorneys in the country. Members of this group include its chair, Herman Fala, and partners Henry Miller, Bob Silverman, Bernard Lee, Jim Williams, Diana Liu and Tom Witt, among others.
In addition, Tom Gallagher, a prominent tax practitioner and chair of Wolf Block's tax group; Jason Shargel, a corporate and securities attorney with more than 20 years experience; and Brian Flaherty a commercial litigator and member of Wolf Block’s executive committee will join the Philadelphia office. Barry Klayman, a commercial litigator with more than 30 years of Chancery Court and Bankruptcy Court experience will join the Wilmington office.
“While the closure of Wolf Block is certainly disappointing for the legal community, it afforded us another opportunity to grow and enhance our business practices,” said Tad Decker, CEO of Cozen O'Connor. “These attorneys are important additions to our firm, and their experiences and reputations will help us thrive in the future.”
Robert Friedman added, “My group, most of whom have practiced together for decades, is delighted to be staying intact and joining such an outstanding firm. We already share several mutual clients and we look forward to working with good friends and former colleagues at Cozen. Although it is a new beginning it is also very much a continuation and even a homecoming.”
“We fielded calls from every firm in the city, but Cozen O’Connor offers great synergy and a national platform for our practice,” said Herman Fala. “Real estate is cyclical and Cozen understands that in the long-term we will be well worth the investment.”
