Cozen O’Connor member Lynette D. Espy has been elected treasurer of the Gate City Bar Association, the oldest African American Bar Association in the state of Georgia. Gate City was organized in 1948 by ten African American lawyers to provide the educational, social and community involvement of a professional association for African American lawyers, who had been excluded from participating in the segregated bar association in Atlanta and throughout the state of Georgia.
Espy is an associate in the General Litigation Department at Cozen O’Connor. She focuses her practice on commercial litigation and has experience in litigating a wide variety of commercial matters, including those pertaining to products liability.
In addition to the Gate City Bar Association, Espy is a member of the American Bar Association, the Atlanta Bar Association, and the Atlanta Council of Younger Lawyers. She is also the membership chair for the Young Lawyers Division of the National Bar Association.
Espy graduated cum laude, with honors, in Economics from Spelman College and received her law degree from the University of Maryland. She is admitted to practice in Georgia.
