Ellyn Farley, member in the firm’s Property Subrogation Department, has been named the August 2010 Illinois Pro Bono Attorney of the Month by IllinoisProBono.org. Ellyn is an active participant in the firm’s pro bono initiative, which encourages each of the firm’s attorneys to dedicate 60 hours of their time to pro bono matters.
In one of her most recent cases, she represented a private business owner who emigrated from Bosnia to the United States. He was served with a complaint from a bank alleging counts of fraud and civil conspiracy, amounting to $500,000. Ellyn dedicated numerous hours pulling together a motion to dismiss, and after compiling detailed affidavits from all parties and hiring a forensic handwriting expert, she achieved a dismissal very early on in the litigation process - to the delight of her client.
