Tuesday, March 6, 2012 – Dan A. Schulder a member of Cozen O’Connor’s Tax and Real Estate Practice Groups was elected a fellow of the American College of Tax Counsel. There are only approximately 700 tax lawyers who are currently fellows of the college.
Schulder’s practice involves all aspects of federal, state and local taxation as well as dealing with all aspects of acquiring, developing, financing and zoning of commercial and residential real estate. He frequently lectures and writes on taxation and corporate planning topics. He co-authored Tax Portfolio 2300 titled Pennsylvania Corporate Taxes, part of Tax Management’s Multistate Tax Portfolio Series. He is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association and the immediate past chairman of its Tax Law Section. In addition to his legal experience, Schulder is a certified public accountant and a member of the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Schulder earned his Master of Laws in taxation degree from Georgetown University Law Center. He earned his law degree from Dickinson School of Law and his undergraduate degree from Syracuse University.
The American College of Tax Counsel is a nonprofit professional association of tax lawyers recognized for their excellence in tax practice. To be nominated for election as a fellow by the board of regents one must have practiced law for at least 10 years and devoted a significant portion of one’s practice to tax and tax-related matters. The individual must also demonstrate a commitment to the practice of law either through involvement with the Tax Section of the American Bar Association, planning or speaking at tax seminars or programs, holding office in tax committees of sections of regional or state bar associations, teaching in or writing on the field of taxation, or by holding a tax administration position with the federal government.
