NEW YORK, NY - JULY 16, 2013 - Stuart Shorenstein, of the firm’s Business Law Department and head of Cozen O’Connor Public Strategies’ New York team, was named “Manhattan Democrat of the Year” by the New York County Democratic Committee at its first Annual Demmy Award Ceremony Monday, July 15. Among the nominees for the award were New York state district leaders and committee members.
The Demmy Awards, themed “On Broadway,” took place at the American Airline Theatre on West 42nd Street, and was attended by 750 people. The New York County Democratic Committee hosts this event to acknowledge and celebrate the accomplishments of the city’s most esteemed political contributors. The evening featured various entertainment, including Broadway song and dance performances. Honorees included Tony Bennett, Robert F Kennedy, Jr., Attorney General Eric Schneiderman, as well as Congressmember Jerry Nadler and Nydia Velasquez. Stuart’s honor, “Manhattan Democrat of the Year,” was the evening’s featured award and announced at the conclusion of the evening.
Stuart joined Cozen O’Connor in 2009 and maintains more than 40 years of legal experience in the areas of communication and corporate law, while playing an extremely active role in politics at the national, local and state levels. He has served on transition teams at the national level for President Clinton, as well as statewide officeholders, and has provided strategic advice to a long list of candidates, including senators, governors, congressmen and local and state officeholders and office seekers in New York and nationally.
