Friday, May 16, 2014

Evan Caplan, a member of Cozen O'Connor's Commercial Litigation Group, and Jim Mulcahy, a paralegal in Cozen O'Connor's Commercial Litigation Group, have been selected as Philadelphia VIP's June Volunteers of the Month. Philadelphia VIP (Volunteers for the Indigent Program) promotes equal justice for the poor by providing civil legal services not otherwise available, collaborating with other legal services organizations and promoting a culture of volunteerism. Each month Philadelphia VIP chooses a volunteer to recognize for going above and beyond to help their clients resolve legal matters. Evan and Jim have spent in excess of 150 pro bono hours assisting clients through Philadelphia VIP.

Evan has been working on various pro bono matters for VIP since 2006. These matters include providing VIP's client's access to medical benefits and health care coverage, preparing legal name change applications, and obtaining amended birth certificates. Jim provides invaluable assistance in preparing the required name change documentation, including client judgment searches, fingerprints and publication efforts.
