Ken Fisher Discusses Potential Effects on Manhattan and Beyond if 421-A Program Expires

Ken Fisher, a member of the firm’s Real Estate department and Public Strategies group, discusses the potential repercussions of the 421-a tax abatement program expiring. The program’s end might not have a significant effect of high-end developments in Manhattan or high-valued areas in other boroughs, however projects in emerging neighborhoods would suffer. According to Ken, projects in emerging areas cannot sustain the rents if taxes increase, and will not have enough money to support the operation of a building.
