Ken Fisher, a member of the firm’s Real Estate Department and Public Strategies Group, discussed with NY1 possible new regulations for political consulting firms to register as lobbyists. “If you are doing public relations for the purpose of harnessing public opinion in order to get public policy makers to make a decision in your clients’ favor, under this rule, that is lobbying,” said Ken. In addition to registering as lobbyist, the state ethics commission is considering requiring consulting firms throughout the state to disclose their clients and income to the public.
