Healthcare Antitrust Reviews Likely to Remain Strong Under Trump

Friday, November 11, 2016

Chris Raphaely, co-chair of Cozen O’Connor’s Health Care Practice Group, discusses the potential impact of a Trump administration on antitrust enforcement in the health care industry. Chris explains that, “The hospital merger and acquisition landscape has started to slow down already, although it’s unclear if the rest of the health care industry will follow suit.” Chris believes that Trump’s promise to repeal and replace the ACA will indirectly impact antitrust enforcement in the health care industry. Chris also noted that, “[Trump] has mentioned allowing insurance companies to do business across state lines, which might lead one to think he’s going to be more tolerant of consolidation than his predecessor might be.”
