Jeff Leonard, chair of Cozen O’Connor’s Business Law department, discusses the strong 2015 real estate market as compared to the 2016 market, which some suggest is seeing signs of a slowdown and what this means for law firms in The Legal Intelligencer. While many consider the likelihood of continued significant growth in 2016 limited, Jeff explains that “There are peaks and valleys for sure, and firms need a diversified practice to carry them through the low parts of the real estate cycles.” According to Jeff, the downturn that many experienced at the end of 2015 and into early 2016 has subsided and that it is “back in a healthy way.” He added that, “Cozen O’Connor is still bullish on the practice, recently launching it in Washington, D.C., and Florida with an eye toward additional growth. The firm is adding young lawyers and has about 50 real estate attorneys firmwide.”
