Mark Alderman, chairman of Cozen O’Connor Public Strategies, discusses the presumptive Republican presidential nominee on Newsmax Prime. Donald Trump’s nomination has prompted significant commentary, recently from the 2012 Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney, who has been an outspoken critic of Donald Trump. When asked about the impact of Republican infighting, Mark said, “I think that Governor Romney is right. I think that Donald Trump should release his tax returns. But I think this is as much a gift to Donald Trump as it is to Hillary Clinton. I think that when Governor Romney goes after the presumptive nominee, it only strengthens Trump’s standing amongst his base and we will have to wait until the fall to see whether it makes any difference to the other half of the country that hasn’t had a chance to pass judgement yet on candidate Trump.” Furthermore, Mark discusses Trump’s attacks on Hillary saying, “The premise of his attack on her is that it’s an advantage to be a woman in this country, politics and this economy. I don’t think that the 51 percent of the country who are women and who have had to face discrimination through life are going to agree with that. So he’s welcome to bring on the man card, she doesn’t need to play the woman card. But she does need to fight back. Her standing up there saying she’s not going to respond is not going to make it to November.”
