Ken Fisher, a member of Cozen O’Connor’s Real Estate Practice Group, addressed the public’s concern surrounding a new refuge center in Williamsburg, NY, at a local community meeting. Local residents and business owners spent years revitalizing the area and worry that the new homeless shelter may jeopardize all their hard work. At a heated Williamsburg community meeting led by local city officials, business owners expressed their feelings of betrayal after officials provided short-to-no notice of the shelter’s arrival. At the meeting, Ken said to officials that “You’re asking [business owners] to trust you and under circumstances where this was basically a done deal before most stakeholders in the area found out about it. It’s hard to establish any degree of trust.”
