Why the Bronx and Queens Once Again Are Selecting NYC's Next Council Speaker

Ken Fisher, a member of Cozen O’Connor’s Business Law Department, discusses the anticipated election of Corey Johnson as New York City Council Speaker in City&State New York. Johnson has received support from Rep. Joe Crowley, Queens County Democratic Party chairman, and Assemblyman Marcos Crespo, the Bronx Democratic Party chairman, which represents a long-standing relationship between the two boroughs and strengthens political efforts. The partnership between Queens and the Bronx, which was established more than 30 years, “endures because it works,” Ken, a former Brooklyn Council Member, said. “ It worked for Vallone, it worked for Miller, it worked for Quinn, and in the absence of the Progressive Caucus as a significant factor this year, it's worked for Corey Johnson as well,” he continued.
