What a toothless de Blasio means for real estate

Ken Fisher discusses the impact New York Mayor Bill de Blasio's loss of influence has on the real estate industry in The Real Deal. As de Blasio heads into his final year in office, the current political climate and the mayor's loss of clout has made developers nervous and uncertain about their willingness to move forward with projects. However, real estate industry insiders are hopeful that the mayor can help move development projects forward in an effort to help the city recover from the coronavirus shutdown.

“What’s more important to his legacy?” said Ken. “That he doesn’t get remembered as a gentrifier or that he’s remembered for leveraging real estate and construction for a swifter recovery and giving confidence in New York’s future?”
