Lobbyists Pushing for Cannabis Legalization to Become a Reality

Congress is more supportive of cannabis than ever. Last year, for the first time, the Democratic-controlled House passed a sweeping cannabis-decriminalization bill. Now, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer has paired up with fellow Democratic Senators Cory Booker (NJ) and Ron Wyden (OR) to draft a proposal on legalizing and regulating the product.

All of these factors lead advocates to believe that cannabis legalization really is on the horizon. In its October 27, 2021 issue, Business Insider (subscription required) profiles top lobbyists – including Public Strategies’ Patrick Martin – influencing Capitol Hill and shaping federal regulations of the U.S. cannabis market, which Wall Street analysts say could be worth over $100 billion by the end of the decade.
