PHILADELPHIA, October 10, 2023 — The Diversity Lab announced today that Cozen O’Connor has achieved Mansfield Certification for the fourth consecutive year.

The Mansfield Rule Certification aims to increase diversity in law firm leadership positions, including governance roles, equity partner promotions, formal client pitch opportunities, and senior lateral positions. To be certified in the preceding year, law firms must have considered broad slates of qualified talent for these leadership roles. In addition, Cozen O'Connor has opted into the Mansfield Certification Plus, which is reserved for firms that voluntarily measure the outcomes of more inclusive processes and have achieved positive results.

The Mansfield Rule is one of the winning ideas from the 2016 Women in Law Hackathon hosted by Diversity Lab, along with Bloomberg Law and Stanford Law. Cozen O’Connor originally signed on in 2019 and became Mansfield Certified for the first time in August 2020. There are now more than 360 firms participating in the certification process. Data analysis has shown these collective efforts have already made an impact, with racial and ethnic diversity in leadership roles of participating firms increasing at a rate 30 times faster than non-participating firms.
