'Change Agents': Law's CMOs Shift From Tactical To Strategic

Lisa Haas was quoted in a Law360 article discussing how law firm CMOs have evolved from tactical support roles into strategic leaders and change agents, with marketing and business development functions now sitting at the center of firmwide growth, client strategy, and competitive positioning. CMOs are increasingly embedded at the leadership table, overseeing not only marketing but also business development, client experience, revenue generation, and technology, as client loyalty declines and purchasing decisions involve more stakeholders.

Lisa highlighted the accelerating pace of demands on marketing teams, noting that the speed of producing pitches, campaigns, and content has increased “exponentially,” driving greater reliance on technology and artificial intelligence. She noted, “The ability to redesign marketing workflows to use AI where AI is effective allows the marketing team to focus on strategic business development. These programs allow marketing personnel to produce higher quality and more valuable content at a much faster pace to support marketing and business development efforts.”
