DOL Contractor Wage Change Raises Questions About Rule

Eric Leonard was quoted in a Law360 article discussing the U.S. Department of Labor’s notice to update the minimum wage for federal contract workers, which suggests that older rates no longer apply to newer contracts after the agency stopped enforcing a Biden-era standard. According to Eric, the notice “made it clear that at least it’s the Labor Department’s interpretation that the prior Obama-era minimum wage does not apply to contracts awarded after the January 2022 date.” He also commented that a regulatory update could provide more clarity. “What would be very helpful is if down the road, and hopefully relatively soon, the DOL puts out regulations that would maybe explain this a little better, in terms of what does apply and what doesn’t apply,” said Eric.
