Morale Rises as Firms Give Associates a Voice, Technology

Lisa Haas was quoted in a Law.com article discussing how associate morale at Pennsylvania law firms improved as firms invested in technology and gave associates a stronger voice in firm decision-making. Many firms saw significant gains by listening more closely to associate committees, expanding professional development programs, and modernizing workplace tools to support flexibility and collaboration. Cozen O’Connor ranked near the top of the associate satisfaction survey.

Lisa highlighted Cozen O’Connor’s innovative “choose your technology” initiative, explaining that the firm rolled out an “Apple-like” store staffed by its IT team where lawyers could test and select their preferred devices, an approach she said she did not think had “been done at any other law firm.” By early 2015, all attorneys had transitioned to their chosen setups, reflecting how technology investments, paired with meaningful associate input, contributed to higher satisfaction and a stronger sense of engagement.
