Arbitration Friend or Foe? [Digital Photo Pro]

Samuel A. Lewis, a member in Cozen O’Connor’s Intellectual Property Litigation group, discusses the increasingly common use of alternative dispute resolution procedures like mediation and arbitration. In particular, arbitration provisions are oftentimes part of consumer service agreements, such as cellular telephone contracts and credit card agreements. Sam explains that many people “include arbitration provisions in agreements without realizing the consequences of using such provisions.” Additionally, some reports show that the outcome in the “vast majority” of disputes between corporations and consumers resolved with arbitration favor the corporation.
