Mixed-Use Development [Pennsylvania Bar Institute]

Adam Silverman, a member of Cozen O'Connor's Real Estate Practice, discusses the considerations for mixed-use developers and legal practitioners in course materials published by the Philadelphia Bar Institute. Adam authored a chapter titled, "Mixed-Use Development," in which he provides background information on mixed-use developments, and includes practical concerns for developers and legal practitioners. He describes the common threads between most mixed-use developments, but also offers advice on how to manage some of the complexities encountered with joint ventures or sub-developers. Adam also provides issues that legal practitioners should consider, such as ownership structure, tax considerations, project control, public grants and incentives, and navigating municipal and public agencies.
